5 Questions Every Bride Should Ask on a Venue Tour

Touring wedding venues is one of the most exciting parts of planning your big day—but it can also be overwhelming. With so many beautiful spaces and so many details to think about, it’s easy to forget the questions that really matter.

As a venue owner (and former teacher), I love walking couples through this process and helping them feel confident in their decision. Here are the five most important questions I encourage every bride to ask on a venue tour—and how we answer them here at Half Moon Empire.


1. Do you offer on-site lodging for family and friends?

🌙 Why this matters: Your wedding isn’t just a one-day event—it’s a weekend filled with memories. Having your people close by saves stress, late-night drives, and makes the whole experience more meaningful.

🌙 Our answer at HME: Yes! We have seven cottages on property, each sleeping up to six guests. Some of our favorite moments aren’t just during the wedding—they’re the night before, sitting by the fire with your bridal party, or waking up on wedding morning with your closest people right there with you.


2. Will someone help me create a timeline and floor plan?

🌙 Why this matters: A pretty space is wonderful, but without a plan, the day can feel chaotic. A timeline and floor plan keep everyone on the same page so you can actually relax.

🌙 Our answer at HME: Yes—because we require it. At Half Moon Empire, every couple must either have a full-service planning team or hire our in-house coordination team. That way, you always have professionals in place to design your timeline and floor plan, communicate with vendors, and lead rehearsal.

When couples choose our in-house coordination team (Kaci & Kristen), they step in 100 days before your wedding to handle vendor communication, create your custom timeline and floor plan, and keep everything running smoothly so you’re not watching the clock.


3. What ceremony and reception options do we have?

🌙 Why this matters: You’ll want flexibility—whether for style or for weather. Knowing your options ahead of time gives you peace of mind.

🌙 Our answer at HME: You’ve got choices! Most couples choose our outdoor arches under the oak trees for their ceremony, then celebrate in our grand reception hall with floor-to-ceiling windows, side balconies, and a 1,300 sq. ft. patio. Both are stunning, and you can mix and match however you want.


4. What happens if it rains?

🌙 Why this matters: Every Texas bride knows—weather is unpredictable! Having a rain plan means you don’t have to panic when the forecast changes.

🌙 Our answer at HME: We’ve got you covered—literally. Our indoor reception hall doubles as a gorgeous ceremony space if the weather turns. With its dramatic windows, high ceilings, and elegant design, it’s just as magical indoors as it is outdoors.


5. Will the space feel like “our wedding” or just another event?

🌙 Why this matters: Your wedding should reflect your story, not feel cookie-cutter. You want a venue that lets you make it your own.
